SAN JOSE, Calif., February 19, 2018 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) (NASDAQ: IDTI), today announced the expansion of viRaTec’s MIYO smart irrigation control systems with IDT® sensor products and the new ZWIR4532 6LoWPAN modules. With viRaTec’s unique smart irrigation algorithm and IDT’s high performance sensor and wireless solutions, the boundary of the smart home extends to the smart garden.

The low power consumption and small form factor of the ZWIR4532 module makes it ideal for embedding into a variety of portable battery-operated IoT-connected home and garden automation devices. IDT’s sensors, such as the relative humidity and temperature sensor and air flow sensor nodes, provide the key platform to any agriculture and garden IoT solutions.

“Our collaboration with IDT started shortly after the founding of viRaTec,” said Roland Grösslich, CEO of viRaTec GmbH. “We quickly decided to use IDT’s secure wireless modules as we saw a huge advantage in running our complete application on top of the 6LoWPAN stack. IDT’s immediate and continuous support allowed our small startup company to concentrate on our core idea of smart irrigation, eliminating the need to develop, test and maintain our own secure wireless stack. The fully featured Over-the-Air Update (OTAU) capability enabled us to immediately distribute firmware upgrades to our customers, including the remote solar-powered devices.”

“We are excited to continue and expand our collaboration with viRaTec,” said Sailesh Chittipeddi, IDT’s executive vice president for global operations and chief technology officer. “Together with viRaTec, we are adding IDT’s humidity, temperature and flow sensor technology to viRaTec’s MIYO system. The new ZWIR4532 will further reduce both system space and power consumption of their solar powered devices.”

The ZWIR4532 is a complete and fully-featured IoT connectivity module, incorporating an Arm® microcontroller, a sub-Gigahertz radio transceiver, and an optional license-free IDT firmware download. It is an excellent solution for IoT connectivity thanks to its support for native communication with computers and mobile devices through IPv6, the ability to create self-healing ad-hoc mesh networks for covering large areas and long ranges, and secure connectivity based on open standard security protocols.

IDT’s ZWIR4532 6LoWPAN wireless IoT connectivity module, HS300x relative humidity and temperature sensor, and flow sensor modules are currently available. Visit idt.com/sensors for more details or to place orders, or contact your local IDT sales representative.
